Additionally, her combination of years teaching in public schools and years as a cosmetology instructor has equipped her with the educational strategies and classroom management skills needed to train and mentor future instructors effectively. The purpose of this course is to prepare with the skills needed to become a licensed Cosmetology, Nail Technician, or Esthetic Instructor in the State of South Carolina. We will focus on the lesson planning (Gradual Release of Responsibility), the creation of focused lessons, classroom management, classroom arrangement, student learning styles, student engagement, how to facilitate student learning, closing your lesson, student assessment (formative & summative), and so much more.
You'll be prepared for the NIC State Board Instructor's Exam by the end of this course!
Requirements to become an Instructor in SC:
Must have a high school diploma or a General Education Development (GED); and
Be a licensed cosmetologist, nail technician or esthetician who has practiced for at least two years; or,
after receiving a cosmetology, nail technician or esthetician license, has completed a seven hundred fifty (750) hours instructor training program; and
Must have received forty-five (45) hours of training in a teaching methods course approved by the board; and
Pass the NIC Theory and Practical Instructor Exams.
